MRR needed to create awareness in a way that was visually appealing to the public, but also accurately depicted the conditions of our marine habitats. We provided animated educational videos that were featured on their website and social media.
MRR is an NGO that’s committed to restoring coral reefs and improving the resilience of ecosystems through research & education. One of the main targets of this project for them was to educate the public as well as fishermen on marine literacy and sustenance.
We aimed to depict the fish as realistically as possible while also maintaining the style and projecting shots from unique angles to effectively and accurately deliver key points.
We illustrated the fish in 2D and made the environment completely 3D, providing an opportunity for us to explore something new in each video. This was also the first time our team experimented with using a grease pencil—we think it turned out pretty decent!
All in all this was an eye opener for the team in terms of learning to navigate a new area in blender, but also more importantly, learning about our marine life & protected areas, sustainable fishing, how our ecosystems work and the responsibilities we as a community have to contribute to its conservation.
We would like to thank MRR and Blue Marine Foundation for their help and guidance through out the project and for trusting us to visualize the message.
